Impossible is nothing! Meet vivacious Flo Mudzingwa

Florence Mudzingwa was born differently able but has surpassed all her goals and social expectations, and is a shining example of excellence. We caught up with Flo and she had this to say:

What were the challenges you faced growing up… and now? And how did you overcome them?

Growing up the challenge was mostly to do with being born with a disability. I was fragile and petite. I had to understand how to deal with the condition and accept myself. I thank God for the love and faith of my mother who loved me unconditionally and made me depend on and trust in God in all that I do. It built a lot of tenacity and determination in me. I began to believe that nothing is impossible. If you put your mind to anything you want to achieve you will succeed. As you grow older at times you fear venturing into unknown territories but I overcome it by understanding my “Why”. That drives me to pick myself up and dive in.

    Flo, exuding confidence and beauty.

Who is your role model and why

The late Saint Mother Teresa. Especially her dedication to humanity and love to influence positively in other peoples lives. From a tender age, it was my desire to be a person who can bring joy and hope to other peoples lives. Mother Theresa’s said: “We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love”. This quote is a constant reminder that when you do anything out of LOVE all things become easy. Over the years I have had other women who inspire me positively the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Joyce Meyer, Tariro Makanga, Edinah Masanga, Suraiya Essof and many other women who are making a difference in society.

What advice would you give to other women who might be facing challenges in life?

There’s a common saying that you can’t truly love others until you love yourself. One of our deepest human desires is to feel valued and appreciated. Find value in every moment, and look for meaning in everything you do. When you hold yourself in high esteem, you’re more likely to choose things that nurture your well-being. This way you will not end up seeking validation from other people. Accept your strength and weaknesses. During hard times, you should strive to overcome challenges. It is easy to slip into despair and have a lot of negative thoughts. But, learn from your mistakes and move forward. This will build your emotional resilience and motivate you to make healthy choices. Have the DESIRE, DRIVE, DETERMINATION to achieve your dreams and goals.

How do you enjoy your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy being around family or hanging out with friends. And I enjoy fine dining. Then I have my moments of solitude where I love reading motivational and inspirational books. I get to learn from motivational authors and their life experiences; how they overcame challenges in their life journeys. I love listening to gospel and old soul music from the ’90s, it helps me to relax.

What are your three favourite dishes and on what typical occasions would you enjoy them?

Sweet and sour pork ribs. I can have those any day with chips, hanging out with friends. Macaroon and cheese with a bit of mushroom and roast chicken, family meal schnitzel, when out dining.
